Why I Wear Black.

I love colors so much. I really do. It just seems like everytime I get the chance, I pick up black items instead of a bright color, which I've been trying to grow my collection of.

I think the habit probably stemmed from my wannabe emo days. Days in which I refused to wear any colors other than black or dark grays. I wore horribly styled hair that I cut myself and oversized black tee shirts.

I started using the internet more and seeing Japanese fashion influences across different social media platforms. That's when I started getting into colors and slowly building up my small amount of non-black clothes; and with the recent boom in pastel fashion trends, it seems like every time I go shopping I'm tempted even more to buy the super cute styles that are more accesible to me in local stores.

Despite my desire to brighten up my wardrobe, Black is just my most stylish option. Every time I open my closet with a feeling of creativity, I gravitate towards the dark pieces that fill most of it. When I wear black I feel like I can take on the world, like I'm defying that cutesy vision most people have of me just because I'm small, I make them think twice about the box they've classified me in.

It's what I'm most comfortable in. But maybe that's the reason I need to change it up. We all have our little comfort zone, which can be terrifying to leave, but that should be what motivates us to do so. We shouldn't limit ourselves to what we're comfortable in, because trying new things can be scary but at the same time amazing. You never know what you might find out about yourself.
