To celebrate Ashion Fashion's 1st BIRTHDAY and my High School Graduation (how fitting, right?), me and my family went on a road trip through the west side of Puerto Rico, eating, taking pictures, listening to Radio Disney. Very reminiscent of our last 9 1/2 years on the island. Great day. Enjoy the pictures and the slideshow at the end of this post!
Wow. A year. It has felt so long, yet I look back and it hasn't been much.
Ashion Fashion was birthed from the idea of me pursuing fashion as a career and having no other option, but to create a platform for myself in order to do so. I'd rambled about style and fashion to my family and friends for so long, yet I didn't share beyond them until exactly a year ago. My mom had been suggesting that I start a fashion blog for years and it seemed as good a time as any to make it happen.
As I started writing, the topics I wanted to touch got a lot more complicated than simple lookbooks or ootds. I realized that I didn't like reading things that told me what to wear and how to wear it, so I started to pursue these complex and thought-provoking themes that seemed risky at times. Ashion Fashion became the platform I had dreamed of where I could speak my mind unapologetically on any topic, it turned into my style journey. Talking about my past experiences with fashion, my present questions and what I would like for my future. This is the place I come to answer the tough questions about style and how you present yourself, really scraping the surface of clothing and cosmetics to get to the nice, juicy center of values, morale and personality. These last three are what motivate me in my dressing.
Ashion Fashion slowed down for me from around September 2016 through January of this year. I was uninspired and not motivated. I didn't know how to make this project grow. Feeling like I was planting seeds in a desert, I took a hiatus for way too long. Luckily, during that time I was taking a Certificate in Fashion Industry Essentials with Parsons the New School for Design and Teen Vogue. Many of the assignments requested for me to write blog posts on what I worked on, so this website came alive with new, interesting content. I learned about Marketing, PR skills, Design, Media, so much more and started to put it to practice here. I have since then finished my certificate and I'm so proud of myself because I'm still writing, still creating.
I never thought I'd want to be a writer, I've always been the reader, yet here I am. I have no idea what God's plan for me is with Ashion Fashion, but I love this, I love sharing with you, I love style, fashion, this journey where I have no idea where I'm going or how I'm gonna get there, but you can be sure I'll write about the whole thing.
Thanks for being around and listening to what I have to say, which has proven to be a lot.
